An 18-year-old youth was booked for molesting a 7-year-old girl in the jungle area near Gittikhadan areaon Wednesday.Sources said the boy had lured a 7-year-old girl to collect leaves from the nearby jungle for the goats. The victim was on her way to reach her maternal uncle’s house when the unidentified youth crossed her path and asked her to help him pick some leaves. The innocent girl readily accepted to help the youth. However, the youth took her to the jungle near Gittikhadan area and forcefully took off her clothes. The youth then slapped and hit the girl on abdomen and back, following which the girl started screaming. Fearing the alert, the youth ran away from the place.
The girl made to her house and narrated her ordeal to the family members. A case was then registered against the unidentified youth under Sections 354 of the IPC read with Sections 12 of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act 2012. Police suspect that the accused youth may be known to the victim. However, no concrete information has been established in the case and search for the accused is in progress
