Nagpur: Activists of City Youth Congress on Wednesday staged protest demonstration against Katol BJP MLA Ashish Deshmukh over hunting of Nilgai, a protected species.
The activists gathered in front of Forest Department office and raised slogans against the MLA and demanded his resignation from Assembly. The protesting Youth Congress activists later submitted a memorandum of demands to Deputy Conservator of Forests Jyoti Banerjee.
The officials informed the activists that the MLA had taken permission from Forest Department to kill the Nilgai.
He further said that with permission the protected species can be hunted if the animal is destroying crops of farmers.
