Six members of NMC’s Transport Committee retire by draw system

In a crucial meeting of NMC’s Transport Committee, six members were “forced” to relinquish their membership and retire from the panel in accordance with an Municipal Corporations Act. The meeting of Transport Committee, presided over by Chairman Sudhir alias Bandu Raut, was held on Wednesday at Panjabrao Deshmukh Memorial Hall of Standing Committee.

The meeting considered the retirement of six members, half of the total Transport Committee membes, in accordance with Maharashtra Municipal Corporations Act Section 25(5)(6). Subsequently, names of all the 12 members were written on chits of paper and put in a box. Later, six names of retiring members were decided by a draw system. The names of the retired and remaining members were then announced by the Chairman Bandu Raut.

The retired members are Shravan Khapekar, Bhushan Shingne, Prashant Dhawad, Murlidhar Meshram, Gopichand Kumbhre and Sandip Sahare. The six other members who retained their membership in Transport Committee are Bandu Raut, Mahendra Raut, Arun Davre, Divya Dhurde, Sumitra Jadhav  and Prakash Gajbhiye.

At the outset, the NMC Secretary Harish Dubey apprise the members about the retirement system. Others who attended the meeting include Standing Committee Chairman Ramesh Singare, Ruling Party Leader Dayashankar Tiwari, Transport Manager and Deputy Commissioner Sanjay Kakde and others.
