Nagpur: A shocking case of sexual exploitation and rape of a 16-year-old minor girl under the pretext of marriage has been unearthed in the Ajni area of Nagpur. The matter came to light after the victim was medically confirmed to be four months pregnant. The Ajni Police have registered a case and apprehended the accused.
The accused has been identified as Mohan Tiwaskar, aged 21 years. He is employed in patient services at a private hospital.

According to police reports, the contact between the victim and the accused was initiated through the social media platform Instagram. This online acquaintance eventually transitioned into a romantic relationship. Between November 2025 and January 2026, the accused repeatedly coerced the minor into physical relationships by falsely promising marriage. The crime was uncovered when the victim’s health deteriorated, prompting her guardians to take her to a hospital for a medical check-up. Clinical examinations revealed that the minor was four months pregnant.
Following the medical disclosure, the victim’s family approached the authorities. The Ajni Police have officially registered a criminal case under relevant sections of the law, including statutory rape and charges under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
The accused, Mohan Tiwaskar, has been arrested and placed in custody. Further legal and investigative proceedings are actively underway.
