Nagpur: A case of repeated sexual assault under the false pretext of marriage has been reported within the jurisdiction of the Sakkardara Police Station in Nagpur. The accused allegedly coerced the victim into a relationship through emotional manipulation and self-harm before repeatedly exploiting her. Following a formal complaint, the police have arrested the accused.
The 23-year-old victim earns a living running private tuition classes. The accused, Shadab Khan Vakil, is a resident of Bada Tajbagh. He operates a mobile repairing shop.
The accused and the victim resided in the same neighbourhood, which led to their initial acquaintance.
The accused proposed to the victim via the messaging application WhatsApp in 2018. The victim explicitly rejected his advances.
Following the rejection, the accused inflicted injuries upon himself by stabbing himself with a knife and arrived outside the victim’s residence. This extreme act forced the victim to initiate communication with him out of distress and pressure.

Based on the official complaint lodged by the victim, the Sakkardara Police have registered a criminal case under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code/Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) pertaining to rape and criminal intimidation.
The accused, Shadab Khan Vakil, has been apprehended and placed under arrest. Further investigative procedures are currently underway.
