Young man murdered by friend after a heady brawl near Medical Square

Nagpur: Yet another liquor-induced brawl led to murder of young man by his friend near Medical Square in the midnight of Tuesday. The accused murderer went absconding and is beaing searched by cops.

The deceased Jitu Mahadeo Khandare (32), resident of Qr No 111, Nari MHADA Quarter Building, Jaripatka and the accused Swapnil Rajendra Ramteke (26) of New Babulkheda, Ajni, were friends. Both enjoyed liquor at a jaunt and later were proceeding toward Baidyanath Square from Medical Square in the midnight of Tuesday. Midway, a brawl erupted between the two friends on the high. Jitu, it is learnt, hurled abuses in choicest words during the fracas. The abusing in filthy words enraged Swapnil and in a fit of anger he attacked Jitu with a brick near the White Building main gate. The accused Swapnil smashed Jitu’s head with repeated blows of brick. As a result, Jitu collapsed and died on the spot.

Imambada PSI PM Mohekar, based on a complaint of Mahendra Mahadeo Khandare (35), booked the accused Swapnil Ramteke under Section 302 of IPC. Unconfirmed reports say the accused Swapnil has been apprehended.
