This is the height of insensitivity for any college to surface with such an hypocritic attitude. A student of first year died of drowning 2 days back. His body was fished out the second day. While his family performed his last rites here on Tuesday, the college continued to celebrate concluding bash of the so called technical event held at department level. This picture was emerged at one of the leading engineering institutes in the city Yashwantrao Chavan College of Engineering (YCCE).

The student identified as Pranav Jajodiya hailed from Mumbai and was studying in first year BE at YCCE. He drowned at Ambazari lake when he was out on the spot with few of his friends and accidentally slipped into the deeper stretch of the lake. After extensive search the team fished out his body on Tuesday morning.

Meanwhile the technical events were being held in all the departments at the college. Sources informed though the event was sort of technical competition among various departments of the college, the concluding ceremony was marked with celebration and big party.

“Despite knowing the fact that one of its students had met the tragic end, the college administration remained insensitive enough to continue with the celebration,” added the source.

However YCCE Principal Dr UP Waghe rubbished the claims saying that since first year students were not the part of this event, their classes were suspended for the day on Tuesday. “In our college the students of that particular year conducted a condelence meeting while the technical event was held.”

He denied any such celebration saying, “It is not a college festival or any celebration time. It is the technical competition event which is separately conducted by different departments. There is no party or celebration at all.”

The entire college cannot be affected but the students of that particular year paid homage to the deceased student, he told Nagpur Today.

The Real Picture

Exposing the denial of YCCE Principal on any celebration, this picture clearly reveals about the bash after the technical event.
