Nagpur: Koradi police have booked a woman and her two sons for allegedly duping many women in the name of parking their funds in saving group or bachat gat.The accused have been identified as Asha Kshirsagar, Sandeep Kshirsagar and Milind Kshirsagar, all residents of Koradi road here.
A Bachat Gat is a small group of (10-15) individuals (generally women) living in close proximity who undertake income generating activities. This is achieved through their own meagre savings deposited into a common bank account which then enables them to borrow bank loans on a very nominal interest rate.
Police sources said the complainant identified as Usha Kochu Joseph Samveer, 40, resident of Near Modern School on Koradi Road had lodged a case of duping against the three. She told the police that the accused had taken Rs 2 lakhs and collectively Rs 12.29 lakhs from other women and duped them. Usha alleged that Asha was known to her. Both of them live in the same locality. From the year 2014 to 2016, Asha Kshirsagar had asked for a loan of Rs two lakhs for completing the construction work on her house.
Asha had promised Usha that she will return the money to her within a month with an interest.
However, when the time of returning arrived Asha convinced Usha that she will invest the amount of Rs 2 lakhs in the Bachat Ghat and the Society which will earn more interest.
Usha had fallen prey to the sweet talks and invested the said money in the Bachat Gat. When she did not receive the invested amount nor the interest, Usha decided to lodge a complaint with the police. She alleged that the mother Asha Kshirsagar and her two sons Sandeep Kshirsagar and Milind Kshirsagar had duped many other women to the tune of Rs twelve lakhs twenty nine thousand from other women and duped them.
On the basis of the complaint lodged by the victim, the cops of Koradi Police Station registered a complaint against the accused and her sons and have initiated an investigation into the matter.
