Woman killed; son, grandson hurt in bike mishap in Wadi

Nagpur: A woman was killed and her son and grandson were injured when the two-wheeler they were riding in was hit by a motorcycle in Wadi area on Sunday night. The unidentified accused bike rider fled the spot after the mishap and is being searched.

Ashish Ramesh Paonikar (24), resident of Khadgaon, along with his son Parth (4) and mother Bhagyarathabai (50), was going on his newly purchased two-wheeler (MH-31/TCD 058) around 8.30 pm on Sunday. As the trio reached near Power House, 8th Mile on Amravati Road, a speeding Pulsar motorcycle rammed Ashish’s two-wheeler with forceful impact. As a result, Ashish and his son Parth received minor injuries but Bhagyarathabai was injured critically. She was rushed to Weltreat Hospital but was declared dead during the course of treatment. The unidentified Pulsar rider fled the spot after the mishap.

Wadi API Rajaram, based on the complaint of Ashish, booked the unidentified bike rider under Sections 279, 337, 338, 304(A) of the IPC read with Sub-Section 134, 177 of Motor Vehicles Act and searching for him.
