With fresh 25 cases, active Covid patients reach 101 in Nagpur

Nagpur: After a fresh spike of another 25 new Covid cases, the active caseload reached 101 in Nagpur district on Sunday. This is the first time after several months that active Covid cases have reached 100 or more in the district.

All the 25 patients who tested positive for the virus are from Nagpur city alone. District has not reported a single death of the virus while 7 patients were discharged. Number of COVID-19 patients taking treatment in various hospitals reached 24. Eleven patients are taking treatment in Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), five patients are in Railway Hospital, two are in Mental Hospital, one each is admitted in Viveka Hospital, Lotus Hospital, Meditrina Hospital, Hope Hospital, AIIMS and Sunflower Hospital. 77 patients have been advised to have home isolation. Of the 241 samples, 215 samples came from the city while 26persons submitted their samples for testing.

After mid-2022, the active cases remained under 100, and further dropped to single digits by November. For many days, the district didn’t have any active cases till January- February this year, but the graph started rising from the month of March. The first two days of April have reported 47 of the active cases. Number of admitted patients too rose to 23.

A total of 77 patients are in home isolation at present. The civic body is sending all new samples for genome sequencing to monitor emerging variants. As of now, variant of concern XBB. 1.16 is dominant in the district following genome sequencing of March samples.
