Nagpur: The Nagpur district girls’ team defeated the mighty Pune team to win the Maharashtra Junior Basketball Championship held at Dhule recently. Appreciating the strong performance of the winning girls, they were felicitated by the Nagpur District Basketball Association. A felicitation ceremony was organized for all the winning girls at Nutan Bharat Yuva Sangh on Monday, November 28.
President of Maharashtra Basketball Association Dr. Dhananjay Velukar, President of Nagpur District Basketball Association, Ex-Mayor Sandeep Joshi, Nagpur District Working President Pranay Ghate, Secretary Bhavesh Kuchanwar, Abhay Kaple, Mahesh Updeo along with the parents of the players were present in large numbers.
On this occasion, each player of the winning Nagpur district girls team was felicitated by giving Rs 2100 each. Similarly, Khasdar Krida Mahotsav Samiti honoured the athletes with mementos.
On this occasion, Sandeep Joshi, after discussion with Dr Dhananjay Velukar, showed his readiness to organise the Maharashtra Senior Invitational Basketball Tournament in the upcoming Khasdar Krida Mahotav in Nagpur. Dr Velukar gave his consent. Sandeep Joshi also thanked him for this.
Coach Arvind Garud, co-coach Dheeraj Kadav of the winning team were also felicitated on the occasion.
