Nagpur/Mumbai: In a major setback to the NCP, former City President of Pali in Raigad district Geeta Palrecha joined the BJP in the presence of State BJP President Chandrashekhar Bawankule in Mumbai on Monday.
Along with Palrecha, a large number of NCP workers joined BJP including Sudhagad Taluka President Ramesh Salunke, Abhijit Chandorkar, Dilip Parab, Shyam Khandagale, Sushil Shinde, and others, said a BJP press statement.
Public Works Minister Ravindra Chavan and BJP Uttar Raigad District President Prashant Thakur were present on the occasion.
Speaking to the media, Ravindra Chavan said Geeta Palrecha is known as an influential NCP leader in Raigad district. She was elected as Councillor in Pali Nagar Panchayat elections and later became the City President. She quit the NCP and joined BJP. We welcome her to the party on behalf of BJP, Chavan said.
