“Wellness Seminar” Organized Under Women’s Health Empowerment Initiative

Nagpur News : World wide, there is a consistent shift in focus in viewing human health from illness towards that of promoting the overall wellbeing or WELLNESS of the individual. Wellness is generally used to mean a healthy balance of the mind, body and spirit that results in an overall feeling of well-being. Wellness can be described as a state that combines health and happiness. Thus, those factors that contribute to being healthy and happy will also contribute to being well.

Divisional Railway Hospital, Nagpur in association with Staff Benefit Fund and Women’s Empowerment Committee, Nagpur Division recently organized a “Wellness Seminar” under the Women’s Health Empowerment Initiative, in Gunjan Auditorium. The topic was “Towards Wellness – Lifestyle modifications for the prevention of hypertension, heart disease, diabetes mellitus and obesity ”

The eminent guest speaker was Dr. Mahendra Gangurde, Additional Chief Health Director, Zonal Hospital, Byculla, Mumbai. He gave a very lucid interactive power point presentation on the topic of WELLNESS highlighting lifestyle modifications for the prevention of hypertension, heart disease, diabetes mellitus and obesity. etc.

 

The programme was attended by more than 350 female employees, staff, patients and their relatives who appreciated the Health Initiative taken by the Medical Department. Male employees were also prominently present. The Chief Guest of the programme was Mrs. Jyoti Dixit, President WSSC accompanied by Mrs. Manisha Borwankar, Vice President WSSC and other office bearers. The guest of honour was Mr. Uday Borwanker, ADRM /NGP. CMS / NGP Dr. C.N. Piprikar, ACMS Dr. Meera Arora & Dr. Sushama Matey, Sr.DDS, Dr. Arundhati Deshmukh, Sr.DPO Mr.Panigrahi, APO Mr. Ajay Raj and Mrs. Veera Nagarkar worked hard for the success of the programme.

 

This is the first of a series of programmes to be conducted all over Nagpur Division under the Women’s Health Empowerment Initiative to promote “Wellness” among the Railway population of Nagpur Division of Central Railway.
