#Rs 1.97 crore recovered from 1840 defaulters
#Total 2449 defaulters face action in NMC-OCW drive
Nagpur: Beware!!! Already 609 connections across city are snapped while action has been initiated against total of 2449 consumers during an innovative ‘Smart Disconnection” drive that was launched by especiallyagainst those who are illegally fetching water without legal/ metered water connection OR not making any payments of water bills, since last many years.
After giving opportunities and reminders several times earlier, now the NMC-OCW haveembarked on a massive Smart Disconnection/recovery drive against illegal consumersas well as from defaulters.NMC-OCW disconnected over 609 household illegal connections for pending arrears of Rs3.56 crore. While initiating further action under massive Recovery drive recovered Rs 1.97 crore from 1840 consumers (From March 1 to 25, 2017). Thus, initiated action against total of 2449 (609 +1840) consumers in last 25 days.
However, recently it was noticed that during the drive consumers are tampering the Smart Disconnection Seal which is also an illegal activity. Legal action will also be initiated against those involved in tampering with the seal.
As per records Lakadganj zone tops the chart as it has snapped connections of 103 consumers(Arrears: Rs48.92 lakh).While 83 connectionswere disconnected from Laxmi Nagar zone (Arrears: Rs34.88 lakh) , 72 from Dharampeth zone (Arrears Rs62.50 lakh) , 58 from Hanuman Nagar Zone (Arrears Rs6.59 lakh) ,37 from Dhantoli zone (ArrearsRs4.13 lakh), 88 from Nehru Nagar zone (Arrears Rs11.78 lakh) , 21 from Gandhibagh ( ArrearsRs3.82 lakh) , 3 from Satranjipura (Arrears: Rs1.29 lakh) , 103 from Lakadganj (Arrears: Rs48.92 lakh) , 23 from Asi Nagar ( Arrears :Rs6.48 lakh ) 25 from Mangalwari zone (Arrears Rs6.41 lakh) and 96 from Bulk Consumers (Rs1.70 crore).
On the same lines NMC -OCW has started recovery drive wherein in last 25 daysRs 16.71 lakh were recovered from 142 consumers from Laxmi Nagar zone, Rs21.37 lakh from 102 consumers of Dharampeth, Rs10.22 lakh from 174 consumers in Hanuman Nagar zone , Rs6.05 lakh from 221 consumers from Dhantoli, Rs15.50 lakh from 184 consumers of Nehru Nagar, Rs7.92 lakh from174 Consumers inGandhibagh, Rs4.27 lakh from116 consumers in Satranjipura, Rs5.92 lakh from 123 consumers in Lakadganj,Rs2.46 lakh from 64 Consumers in Asi Nagar, Rs22.65 lakh from 325 Consumers in Mangalwarizone and Rs84.46 from 215 consumers from Bulk (Main) consumersduring the drive.
It must be mentioned here, having an authorized/legal water connection is a matter of pride for every vigilant citizen. NMC and OCW officials have requested the citizens of Nagpur to co-operate during these drives and grab this golden opportunity to clear dues and avoid disconnection. OCW-NMC hasappealed defaulters to pay/clear the water bill dues to avoid any kind of inconvenience or problems. The arrears clearing/ payment facility is available at all Customer Service Centre located at zonal offices of NMC-OCW.
