Most often people confuse obesity with being overweight. But obesity is much more than just your weight. It is a disease, a chronic condition that will lead you to have several other health disorders. Sometimes even hormonal disorders can cause obesity, but usually an extremely unhealthy lifestyle is the cause of obesity. You must not miss the signs of obesity as the disease engulf you. It is a fact that if you are able to identify early signs of obesity, you might be able to deal with your condition in a better way.

The cause of obesity is excessive fat. At one point of time you just stop being overweight and turn into an obese. It is this threshold that is dedicated by the warning signs of obesity. When you are fat, you might still be active. But obesity deprives you of energy and leads to many respiratory and pulmonary disorders.

There is no age bar for obesity. Anybody can notice the signs of obesity in them. Even very young kids are obese these days. So here are some warning signs of obesity that you should not miss.


Unexplained Weight Gain 

 Some people remark sadly that even if they drink just water, they tend to put on weight. This is because of obesity. If your weight gain is not proportional to your calorie intake, you might be obese.

Cellulite is accumulated fat on certain parts of the body like tummy, thighs arms etc. It changes the colour and texture of your skin. You might also get stretch marks because of it.
Knee Pain 

As your weight increases, it puts pressure on your knees. The knees often crumble under such pressure and you are left with weak and painful knees.
Varicose Veins 

Varicose veins is a condition in which the veins just under the skin are ruptured and hurt a lot. This is not necessarily due to obesity but excessive weight increases the risk of varicose veins.
High Cholesterol 

Obesity is naturally associated with a very unhealthy lifestyle. When your eating habits are unhealthy, harmful cholesterol gets accumulated in your body and block your arteries.

When there is too much fat on your chest, it puts pressure on your lungs. That is why, you might feel breathless after doing minor physical exercises. In some rare cases, obese people slowly suffocate under their own weight.

Heart Diseases 

Cholesterol and heart blockages are a side effect of obesity. When there is too much fat in your heart, it makes pumping blood difficult. Strokes, cardiac arrests and high blood pressure are common problems of obese people.
Irregular Periods

For women, obesity can lead to irregular periods. When too much fat is deposited around your uterus and ovaries, it can delay for periods to a great extent.

When you are so fat, moving around with your bulk is an effort. That is why even small movements make you tired and you start feeling lethargic all the time.

Diabetes is a lifestyle disorder and also a hormonal one just like obesity. Diabetes can be caused by the hormonal imbalance in your body due to obesity or unhealthy lifestyle choices. But usually diabetes comes complimentary with obesity.
