Vital VIA meeting on May 30 to discuss MSEDCL proposal to hike power tariff

The Vidarbha Industries Association has postponed a meeting, and also, changed the timings, previously announced by it. And, now, the meeting will take place at MIA House, Central MIDC, Hingna, Nagpur at 3.30 pm on May 30, according to a VIA press release.

The meeting is called to discuss the massive hike in power tariff as proposed by Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Co. Ltd (MSEDCL). The MSEDCL, in a proposal to Maharashtra Electricity Regulatory Commission (MERC), has sought approval for hike in power tariff to recover its past losses. The MSEDCL has also submitted a business plan for 3 years to MERC for approval. It means the MSEDCL will again hike the power tariff after three years apart from the present proposal to hike power tariff in massive proportion.

The VIA’s important meeting will decide the future course of action to be chalked out against the MSEDCL proposal to hike power tariff. The VIA has appealed all industrialist members, consumers’ associations, forums and NGOs to attend the important meeting to unitedly take a decision against the power hike proposal. A presentation would be made by Goenka and other MERC members on the occasion, the press release said.
