Nagpur News: Vidarbha Connect-VCan, an apolitical forum which is spearheading the cause of separate state of Vidarbha, unequivocally condemned Naxal attack in Gadchiroli district which claimed lives of 7 police personnel on Sunday (May 11).

VCan President Adv Mukesh Samarth said such attacks should be dealt with a firm hand and reiterated that “Terror and violence have no place in a civilized society. Such random attacks on security forces performing their duty must be strictly dealt with.”

Adv Samarth added, “I am deeply saddened to learn about the tragic attack by the left wing extremists on security personnel in Gadchiroli district of Vidarbha in which 7 policemen have lost their lives and few others suffered serious injuries.”
On behalf of all the members of VCan, he expressed condolences to the grieving families of victims and asked the state government to provide all possible aid to the bereaved families who have lost their near and dear ones as well as medical assistance to the injured.

Founder President of VCan Adv Shreehari Aney said that the Naxalite movement in Gadchiroli area has grown due to the deliberate neglect by successive governments in Maharashtra whereas the neighbouring states of Chhattisgarh and Andhra Pradesh (now Telangana) have been successful in curbing Naxalite activity. Maharashtra Government’s neglect has allowed it to rampantly proliferate when it could have been easily curbed with strong and determined government action, said Adv Aney.
