Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) is offering v admissions in around 226 programmes starting from 6 months Certificate Courses to 1 year Diploma, 3 years Under Graduate and 2 years Post Graduate Programs in the ongoing admissions.

It recently started PG Diploma in Urban Planning and Development (with increase in Urbanization, for effective planning of urban areas), PG Diploma in Pharmaceutical Sales Management (for Medical Representatives), PG Diploma in Information Security, PG Diploma in Health and Hospital Management (for Hospital Managers), PG Diploma in Geriatric Medicine (for treating old age people), PG Diploma in Analytical Chemistry (for employment in Chemical Industries), PG Certificate in Cyber Law and also Masters degree in Dietetics and Food Service Management, Social Work, Psychology, Philosophy, Rural Development, Library Science etc.

IGNOU has Memorandum of Understanding with various organizations it is offering B.Com (A & F) and M.Com (F & T) in collaboration with Chartered Accountants Association, M.Com (Business Policy and Corporate Governance), B.Com (Corporate Affairs and Administration) in collaboration with Company Secretary Institute, M.Com (Management Accounting and Financial Strategies) and B.Com (Financial and Cost Accounting) in collaboration with ICWA, Certificate for Professional Development of Primary Teachers (in collaboration with Kendriya Vidyalay Assocation) for Central School Teachers.

It is also starting some new programmes like M.A. in Translation Studies, PG Diploma in Advanced Statistics and PG Diploma in Geo-Informatics. IGNOU programmes are attracting number of students even from Raipur, Bilaspur, Pune, Mumbai and Hyderabad. For courses like M.A. Psychology, PG Diploma in Health and Hospital Management, the Students from distant places like Mumbai, Hyderabad are attending practicals at Nagpur. The admissions for January 2015 session will be closed on 15th December with a late fees of 300/-. The prospectus is available at Regional Centre and all Study Centres for a cost of 200/-.

IGNOU’s Special Activities: 
IGNOU is making special efforts under the name “Gyan Ganga” to ‘reach the unreached’ sections of the Society like Prisoners and Tribal people etc. It conducted awareness camp at Kurkheda village, Gadchiroli District and in Prisons like Nagpur and Amravati Central Jails. 38 women from Kurkheda village took admission in various courses of IGNOU.

B.Ed Admissions Counselling:
IGNOU B.Ed is attracting large number of untrained/semi trained teachers. For its available seats, 1 : 10 competition is existing. Based on the Entrance Test Merit list, the Admission Counselling will be held at Regional Centre from 15th December onwards. All eligible students are intimated through Speed Post Letter and SMS. The cut off marks, the Counselling dates and all proforma are available on IGNOU website www.ignou.ac.in. All the students, who got above the cut off marks can attend the counseling at respective date and time, with all relevant documents given on website.

IGNOU Exams:
IGNOU conducts its Term End Examinations yearly twice in June and December. The December examinations are going on now with Exam Centres at Gadchiroli, Nanded, Pusad, Amravati, Chandrapur and Nagpur. Examinations are conducted in Nagpur and Amravati Central Jails also for the Prisoners. Total 107 prisoners are writing exams for Bachelors Preparatory Program (for entry to graduate program, who could not study even upto 10th), B.A. and M.A. programmes. This includes six from Death Penalty cell of Nagpur Central Jail. IGNOU appoints Senior Academicians as Observers in these examinations, including Jail Centres.
