Child labourers are being rescued by Govt’s Task Forces & rehabilitated: Pankaja Munde

Minister for Rural Development and Women and Child Welfare Pankaja Munde on Friday said the Government’s Task Forces have been raiding from time to time and rescuing child labourers. The rescued child labourers are being admitted in ‘Bal Gruhas’ (Children’s Homes) for their rehabilitation as per orders of Children’s Welfare Committee. The rescued child labourers are being provided with food, cloths, shelter, vocational training, education, counseling, and medical facilities and later they will be rehabilitated, assured the Minister Pankaja Munde in a written reply in Vidhan Parishad (Council).

The question on child labourers was raised by NCP member Prakash Gajbhiye.

Gajbhiye said that even the child labourers are being rescued by Government in raids carried out from time to time, 76.47 rescued children again were doing labourer’s jobs after some times. In Mumbai alone, 1300 child labourers were found active in November 2014 even after State Government brought Anti-Child Labour Act in existence, charged Gajbhiye.

Pankaja Munde further said that Task Forces under District Collectors have been set up and these Task Forces have been rescuing child labourers from time to time and rehabilitating them.
