Nagpur: In a tragic incident, an unidentified man, believed to be around 35 to 40 years old, died after allegedly jumping beneath a moving Eicher truck at White House Square on Wadi Ring Road under the jurisdiction of Gittikhadan police station on Sunday evening.
The incident occurred between 5 pm and 5.15 pm on August 9, when the man reportedly approached the road from the Wadi side and, after taking a U-turn, suddenly jumped into the path of a slowly moving truck. He came under the vehicle’s wheels and died on the spot. The truck driver fled from the scene after the incident.

A tea-stall owner, Dinesh Sukhlal Gautam (35), a resident of Hazari Pahad, who was present near the spot, reportedly told police that the deceased had approached his stall shortly before the incident.
According to Gautam, the man said he had come from Bengal in search of work and had allegedly remained hungry for several days. Gautam gave him tea. During their brief interaction, the man reportedly made a disturbing remark indicating that he would die.
The man’s identity has not yet been established. Police have appealed to members of the public who may recognise him to contact Gittikhadan police station.
At the time of the incident, the deceased was wearing a blue round-neck half-sleeved T-shirt, blue track pants with yellow vertical stripes and blue-red shoes.
Based on the information provided by the complainant, Police Sub-Inspector Pathan registered an Accidental Death Report (ADR) at Gittikhadan police station. Further investigation is underway to establish the circumstances leading to the man’s death and ascertain his identity.
Police are also attempting to gather information about his movements and background before the incident.
