Nagpur:
Union Minister for Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation Uma Bharti arrived in the city on Wednesday and straightaway went to the headquarters of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) for a meeting with Sarsanghachalak Mohan Bhagwat. However, the issues Uma Bharti discussed with the RSS chief could not be known.

Coming out after the meeting and talking to waiting media persons, the Union Minister said that all countries should come together and fight the scourge of terrorism. “It is need of the hour. The Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Israel is very important in this context,” she said.

Replying to a question, Uma Bharti said that the country is ready to face the challenge posed by China under the able leadership of Modi.

“All the Presidents have not toed the line of Governments at the power always,” the Minister quipped while answering a question posed by media persons. She further said that political parties should restrain themselves from making statements regarding the post of President. The President’s post had and has been well above politics.

Remembering the tenure of K R Narayanan, she said the Presidents have not supported the Governments always. When Narasimha Rao Government at the Centre had dismissed Kalyan Singh Government in Uttar Pradesh, the then President K R Narayanan had turned down the decision of the Union Government. Narayanan was a Congressman but he himself aloof from the party line, the Union Minister said.
