Jammu on high alert, Jammu-Pathankot highway closed
Two policemen were killed and nine others were seriously injured when a group of Pakistan-supported militants, armed with automatic weapons and grenades, attacked a police station in Kathua district of Jammu region on Friday morning.
According to reports, heavy gunfight is still on in the area to neutralise the militants, who are holed up inside the police station.
“Militants wearing military uniforms used automatic weapons and hurled grenades at Rajbagh police station in Kathua district this morning,” a senior police officer told reporters.
Security forces and police teams have rushed to the spot, and district authorities have closed traffic on National Highway 1 in Jammu.
The deputy commissioner also said the police station had been cordoned off.
HM spoke to the DGP of J&K and the heads of other security agencies regrading the terrorist attack in Kathua district.
