Two chain-snatchings in 50 minutes

Two chain-snatching cases were registered within a span of 50 minutes under Nandanvan and Ajni police station areas on Thursday evening.

The first chain-snatching took place under the jurisdiction of Nandanvan police station at the Cement Road near K D K College.

On Thursday, Meera Sanjayrao Korde (39), a resident of Ganesh Nagar, went for shopping at Big Bazaar with her sister Deepali Sandeep Jayaswal (26), a resident of Mahal. The sister duo were heading back towards home on their Activa moped (MH 31 DV 4149) taking Cement Road, near K D K College. At around 4 pm, an unidentified youth came on his black coloured motorcycle and snatched away Deepali’s mangalsutra worth Rs 90,000.

Nandanvan police registered a case of chain-snatching on the complaint of Meera.

The second case took place under the jurisdiction of Ajni police station at the main road near Hanuman Nagar Basketball ground.

The complainant Kavita Rajendra Gawande (43), in her complaint mentioned that she was going on her Activa moped (MH 31 BQ 9940) from the main road near Hanuman Nagar Basketball ground when an unidentified youth came from behind on his bike and snatched away her mangalsutra worth Rs 30,000 at around 4.50 pm on Thursday.

Before Kavita could raise an alarm, the robber sped away. Ajni police have registered a case on the complaint of Kavita, a resident of Kaviraj Niwas, Sudarshan Colony.

An offence under Section 392 has been registered in both the cases by the respective police stations and further investigations are in progress.
