Nagpur: Two murder cases were reported in the city within 24 hours. A 34-year-old man was murdered in Yashodhara Nagar area while another 32-year-old man was stoned to death in Jaripatka on Thursday. The murderous assaults took place between 12 noon and 11 pm. Yashodhara Nagar police have successfully detained the murder culprit while Jaripatka police have launched a manhunt for the killer in the second case.

Yashodhara Nagar police said that the accused had been identified as Khandya alias Rajesh Arjun Somkuwar, a resident of Binaki Mangalwari, Kanjihouse Square. Police said, the accused met the deceased Dnyaneshwar Kodlikar near the house of Chandkumar, Kanji House Square, Binaki Mangalwari on Thursday at around 12 noon. Khandya had a verbal duel with Dnyaneshwar a day before and he had planned to settle scores with him. When he met Dnyaneshwar, Khandya took out a knife and slashed his neck and injured him seriously. He was rushed to Indira Gandhi Government Medical College and Hospital for treatment but after struggling for few hours, doctors declared him dead at around 9.30 pm. On the basis of the complaint lodged by Laxmi Kodlikar (30), Yashodhara cops have registered an offence under Sections 302 of the IPC and arrested the accused Khandya.

The second murder was registered under the jurisdiction of Jaripatka police station late Thursday night. The deceased has been identified as Purushottam Manoharlal Batra (32), a resident beside Baba Hardas Dharmashala, Jaripatka.

Police said, Purushottam was killed with a boulder near Dayanand Park, Kasturba Nagar. Commuters located the body and informed Jaripatka police about the murder. Cops swung into action and reached the scene. They identified the body with the help of belongings on the body. On the basis of the complaint lodged by Preetam Batra (37), Jaripatka police Jaripatka police have registered a case under sections 302 and 34 of the IPC and have booked the unknown culprits.
