Tranforming Nagpur : BJP kickstarts Rs 1510 cr development works in city

Eyeing the upcoming civic polls in Nagpur, BJP heavyweights came down in Nagpur to kickstart a spate of development works at various places here on Friday. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari and Union Minister of State for Petroleum Dharmendra Pradhan jointly inaugurated a couple of development projects costing around Rs 1510 crores. The works included stone laying ceremony of an elevated flyover from Liberty Square to Pagalkhaana Square.

Gadkari told the media that a lot many development works have lined up in the city in coming days. Other works which were inaugurated on Friday included cement road from Zero Mile to Automotive Square at the cost of Rs 230 crores, cement road from RBI Square to Telephone Exchange Square at the cost of Rs 220 crores and Metro rail tunnel from Zero Mile to Kamptee road gurudwara at the cost of Rs 607 crores.

Gadkari said the project of Metro tunnel route is ready and would soon get approval of National Highway Authority of India (NHAI). He said the tunnel was necessarily required for expansion of Metro rail works.
