This Independence Day went into a sort of world record and also put Nagpur, Chandrapur and Mumbai on the map of the country, in a gigantic style. The Independence Day rally in Chandrapur witnessed a delightful sight when a 4000-foot long tricolor was carried by around 8000 students and hundreds of citizens. The colossal National Flag was designed in Mumbai, printed in Nagpur and given shape in Chandrapur by a team of 75 women.

The organizer of the I-Day Rally, Subhash Kasangottuwar said that the tricolor rally could possibly the biggest one in the history of the nation. Earlier, a rally with 3200-foot tricolor was taken out in Gujarat. The rally, taken out by Help and Care Foundation, Chandrapur, commenced from Police Parade Ground at 9.30 am. The event was graced by the State Finance, Planning and Forest Minister Sudhir Mungantiwar, Union Minister of State for Home Hansraj Ahir, MLA Nana Shamkule, Mayor Rakhi Kanchanrlawar, ZP President Sandhya Gurnule, ZP Chairman Devrao Bhongale, and Subhash Kasangottuwar himself.

Around 8000 students of various schools, colleges, 1600 volunteers, Sainik Vidyalaya, Visapur Band Group, seven Bhajan Mandals of Tukum village, office-bearers of Gurudeo Bhajan Mandal, 40 office-bearers of Love India Care, office-bearers of Deen Desire Multipurpose Society along with other prominent personalities participated in the rally with patriotic fervor.
The rally crisscrossed main thoroughfares of Chandrapur and passed through Jatpura Gate, Girnar Chowk, Gandhi Square and culminated at Jatpura Gate. The tricolor was later handed over to Sainik Vidyalaya.

Subhash Kasangottuwar further said that based on the concept of Ranjit Matangi, Nagpur artist Dhunnaji created the massive tricolor. In fact, Dhunnaji was told to carve out a 3000-foot National Flag but the artist, with the aim of giving his own contribution to the momentous occasion, extended the length of the tricolor by a staggering 1000 feet more. And thus the 4000-foot tricolor went into the record as the longest tricolor.
