Kidnapping
Nagpur: In a curious turn of events, a teenage boy was kidnapped by two ‘brothers’ of his Whatsapp girlfriend. After detaining the kidnapped boy for hours, the two abductors demanded a ransom of Rs 1.20 lakh from the boy’s father for his release. However, the abducted boy anyhow freed himself from the clutches of the kidnappers and reached home safely. This dramatic incident took place in Pachpaoli police jurisdiction on Tuesday.

The complainant Ashok Ganpatrao Devkar (53), resident of Tukaram Nagar, told police that his son Mayur (17) is student of Class XII. Some 8 days back, Mayur received a Whatsapp call from a girl named Kajal Bavne. After befriending Mayur, the girl used to chat with him since the past week and finally decided to meet face to face. The girl texted Rohan to come and meet her at Walkers Street in Civil Lines. When Mayur reached the location, he was told by the girl named Kajal to come to another location around CP Club. When Mayur went there, instead of the girl, two youths met him and told Mayur that they are brothers of Kajal. The two ‘brothers’ asked Mayur why he is troubling Kajal frequently by calling her on phone. With these words, the two youths sat on Mayur’s two-wheeler and took him to a long ride criss-crossing various localities. The two kidnappers snatched mobile phone of Mayur and then made a ransom call to his father Ashok Devkar and demanded around Rs 1.20 lakh. They called him at a location. Mayur’s father alerted his family members and the police. The kidnappers kept changing the location for the ransom and finally told Mayur’s father to come near Kasturchand Park with the money.

When Mayur’s father went near Kasturchand Park, he got a call from Mayur, who told him that he freed himself from the clutches of kidnappers and was at a friend’s place in Jaripatka.

Later, Ashok Devkar lodged a complaint about his son’s kidnapping and ransom demand with Pachpaoli police. Cops have booked the two unidentified kidnappers under relevant sections and searching for them.
