Nagpur: In an effort to comprehensively understand the dynamics of Maratha and non-Maratha open categories, the State Commission has initiated a survey involving various professionals, including teachers, Teachers (BLO), NMC officials, PWD workers, anganwadi workers, and talathis. However, the survey has unveiled a distressing reality for the teachers involved.
The survey, projected to conclude in about eight days, has encountered numerous challenges. Two days ago, a surveyor collecting data was bitten by a dog, highlighting the hazards faced during fieldwork. Today, at Jog Layout, Prashant Nagar, Ajni Square, a tragic incident occurred as teachers, along with other surveyors, were conducting their duties.
One surveyor was struck by a vehicle, resulting in her falling to the ground, and her mobile device being destroyed. Unconscious and in need of urgent medical attention, the situation became critical. Security guards from nearby buildings and fellow surveyors played a crucial role in administering first aid, including performing heart-pumping actions until the ambulance arrived.
The daunting challenges did not end there. The ambulance, upon reaching the scene, was ill-equipped, lacking sufficient space and provisions for the patient. Despite the combined efforts of bystanders and surveyors, the situation remained dire until the patient was eventually accommodated in the crowded ambulance.
The unfortunate incidents underscore the precarious conditions faced by teachers in Maharashtra. Stray dog attacks, vehicular accidents, and disrespect from residents have become alarming facets of their daily lives. The very individuals entrusted with shaping the future are left exposed to adversity, raising questions about the societal values and support systems in place for educators.
As Maharashtra grapples with the challenges revealed by this survey, the plight of teachers emphasizes the urgent need for enhanced safety measures and a reevaluation of the conditions in which educators operate. The disheartening reality prompts reflection on the well-being of those who are entrusted with the noble task of imparting knowledge.
