Nagpur: Panic gripped the Taj Nagar area under the jurisdiction of Mankapur Police Station after a group of seven to eight youths allegedly created terror by roaming the locality while brandishing swords and knives on the night of August 30.
Mankapur Police have registered a case against seven to eight persons, including Sonu Pillewar, and launched a search for the suspects.
Group Arrived on Motorcycles
According to the complaint, seven to eight youths arrived in Taj Nagar’s Lane No. 8 on three to four motorcycles. Some of them were allegedly carrying swords and knives and threatened residents while moving through the area.

The complainant, Raqib Khan, had stepped outside his house after dinner when he heard loud noises. On reaching the road, he reportedly saw the group riding motorcycles through the locality. Three of the youths allegedly approached him, displayed a sword and knife and threatened him.
The group then allegedly continued riding around the area while waving the weapons, creating fear among residents.
Suspected Dispute Behind Incident
According to preliminary police information, a dispute had taken place involving Rahul Katote and Billu. Police suspect that Sonu Pillewar, who is reportedly Rahul Katote’s brother-in-law, and his associates were involved in the incident following the dispute.
Mankapur Police have registered a case under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Arms Act. No arrests have been made so far, and efforts are underway to trace the suspects.
Mankapur Police Station’s Haresh Kalsekar said that further investigation into the case is underway.
