Nagpur: In yet another phishing fraud, an unidentified conman tricked and robbed a steel company to the tune of Rs 18 lakh (25,243 American dollars). The unidentified trickster has been booked and is being searched.
On February 2, 2017, the fraudster sent a fake email to Sunflag Iron Steel Compnay situated at 33, Mount Road, Nagpur by ‘fixing’ email of Daido Steel Company of Japan. The conman informed the Sunflag Company that the bank account of Daido Steel Company has been changed for technical consultancy payment. The trickster further informed about Daido’s new account in National Westminster Bank commonly known as NatWest Bank. Believing the information, the complainant Shriram Bhadrukt Murlidhar (62), resident of Flat No. 105, Laxminivas, KT Nagar, Katol Road, transferred Rs 18 lakh (25,243 American dollars) from Sunflag Iron Steel Company’s account to the account in NatWest Ban on February 10, 2017.
Sadar PSI S B Chappe, based on the complaint and an investigation report, registered a case under Section 420 of the IPC read with Sub Sections 65(C), 66(D) of Information and Technology Act against the unidentified fraudster.
