Structural inspection of old, modern heritage structures and buildings in city soon

DSC_0337Nagpur: The Heritage Conservation Committee, headed by Arun Patankar, has decided to undertake structural inspection of old and modern heritage structures and buildings in Nagpur.

A meeting of Heritage Conservation Committee was held at the Shivaji Maharaj Administrative Building Hall of Nagpur Municipal Corporation on Friday. Patankar presided over the meeting which was alos attended by Additional Municipal Commissioner Ramnath Sonavane, Architect Ashok Mokha, Curator Virag Sontakke, Dr (Mrs) Subhash Zohri, Engineer P S Patankar, NMC Town Planning Assistant Director Supriya Thool and others.

In the meeting, the committee gave its in-principle approval for construction of Nagpur Metro Rail works at 408.459 sq mtr land near historic Kasturchand Park, Mauza Sitabuldi, City Survey No. 1863. The construction work will commence only after the No-Objection Certificate is received from the District Collector. Kasturchand Park is at serial number 95 of heritage site list as Grade-1 site. Hence, the responsibility of maintaining and monitoring of the heritage site should be taken by Nagpur Metro Rail Corporation, Patankar stressed.

The Heritage Conservation Committee also gave its approval to construction work at Tekdi Ganesh Temple as well as idol immersion tank at Gandhisagar Lake. This lake (Jumma Talao) is Grade-2 heritage site in heritage site list.
