Nagpur: The dreaded gangster Sanjay Fatode is at it again. Although he has been arrested by Ambazari police in a new case but before that the gangster reportedly wreaked havoc in the lives of a farmer and his family of Kondhali. The MCOCA accused and resident of Pandharabodi in city, Fatode tried to usurp agriculture land of the farmer by deceitful and fraudulent tactics. An heir of the farmer has also been doled out life threats forcing him to leave his village.

Addressing a press conference here on Thursday (August 4), the victimized Gaekwad family of Mendhe Pathar forest village of Kondhali narrated the sordid episode. The elderly Pramila Vithoba Gaekwad said that her family owns seven acre ancestral farm in their village. In the year 2005, her husband Vithoba, under the influence of liquor, took a loan of Rs 10,000 from the gangster Sanjay Fatode. At that time, Fatode deceitfully procured Power of Attorney of the said seven acre land from Vithoba.

On the basis of this Power of Attorney, Fatode mutated the seven acre farm land of Gaekwad family in his wife Surekha’s name even as the farm land comes under Category B. According to the lawyer of Gaekwad family, Adv K R Shukla, the registry of Category B land could only be done when it is turned into Category A land. But Fatode mutated the land in his wife’s name, illegally. The Gaekwad family was totally unaware of this dubious deal of Fatode.

However, when the gangster, along with 20-25 henchmen descended on the village and staked claim on the agriculture land, the Gaekwad family was taken aback. Since then, the farmer family has been receiving life threats from the gangster. The scared family approached Kondhali police umpteen times but the cops, terming it as land dispute, registered a non-cognizable (NC) offence and turned back the family. The Gaekwad family totally depends on the agriculture land, their lawyer Shukla said.

The heir of the family, Manoj Gaekwad said that his father Vithoba died only due to pressure tactics of Fatode. They have filed a petition in a Katol court seeking cancellation of the Power of Attorney of Fatode. The matter is pending in the court. Despite knowing this fact, the gangster is indulging in terror tactics against the Gaekwad family by threatening them with life, the lawyer said.

Aunty is also being threatened:
The paternal aunt of Manoj Gaekwad stays in Ramnagar which is in close proximity of Pandharabodi where the gangster resides. When Fatode came to know this fact, he also started threatening her forcing her family to spend sleepless nights. However, on Thursday night, she lodged a complaint with Ambazari police against the gangster. Acting on her complaint, Ambazari cops booked Sanjay Fatode under Sections 448, 506(B) of the IPC and reportedly arrested him. Further investigations are underway.
