‘Rasta Roko Andolan’ against BJP Govts’ failure
Activists of State Congress today staged a state-wide ‘Rasta Roko Andolan’ at Variety Square in Nagpur to protest against the Bharatiya Janata Party Governments’ failure to provide relief to the drought-affected farmers and pass benefits of falling petroleum prices to consumers. While addressing those present at the site, the party activists opined that they strongly feel that despite fall in international crude prices, the benefit of the reduced prices had not been passed on to the consumers. Congress activists also protested against the amendments made to the Land Acquisition Act. With this in the backdrop Nagpur city Congress chief Vikas Thakre made appeal to the people of the State.
Nagpur City Congress Chief Vikas Thakre, who led the agitation in city said that both the Centre as well as State Government have turned a blind eye towards various demands of the people. He added that they made promises during elections, but had failed to fulfill those promises. Vikas Thakre claimed that as a result there is huge resentment among the people about both the governments. In order to draw the attention of the State Government towards various issues the Congress has taken up this agitation.
