Nagpur: Blowing aside the ill intention of colleges eyeing to squeeze heavy donation against admission to its post graduate courses, Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University has cancelled the spot admission round called by these colleges. Now the University itself will take final call on alloting the seats to the students.

Since this year too, seats for MSc are in high demand, the colleges were reportedly out to cash on this ‘opportunity.’ It may be recalled that this year Nagpur University had decided to allot seats in post graduate courses on the basis of Centralised Admission Process (CAP).

Most of the colleges had not approved the admission of the students who were alloted seats after first two CAP rounds. The students who secured place in merit list displayed after two rounds were alloted these seats. Holding the seats back, the colleges instead decided to invite students for spot admission round on July 29. The move was reportedly taken to net heavy price for the admission in the form of big donations. However, sensing the situation, the University authorities cancelled the spot admission round.

Not only MSc, the University authorities would also fill the seats for other courses at their level only. These courses include MA, MSc, Home Science, MLib, Master of Social Work, Master of Fashion Design, MIRPM, MCM etc. The information to this regard has been uploaded on varsity’s website.

Science streams housefull!
Like previous year, this year too, post graduate seats for science are jam-packed as there is heavy demand for the same. Unlike this trend, the seats for arts stream are finding little takers. As per the information, against the 12590 seats for MA, this year only 3704 applications have been received. On the other hand, as many as 3764 students have applied for the total 1966 seats for MSc.
