Nagpur: In a chain of accidents, a recklessly driven container truck knocked a pedestrian dead, hit a motorcycle injuring two riders seriously and crushed a parked motorcycle damaging it extensively. The scary incident took place in Mauza Dongargaon falling under Hingna Police Station jurisdiction on Tuesday. The driver of the container truck fled the spot leaving behind his vehicle.
Around 5 pm on Tuesday, the deceased Mohd Yusuf Sheikh (20), resident of Butibori, was returning home walking. As he neared Mauza Dongargaon Fish Market, the rashly driven container truck (MH-20/DE 6787) knocked him.
The critically injured Mohd Yusuf Sheikh died on the spot. But shockingly, the driver did not stop his truck after killing Sheikh and went berserk. The speeding container truck hit a motorcycle (MH-49/AG 3993) and injured two riders seriously. But still the driver did not stop his truck and in order to flee the spot to avoid nearby people’s backlash, crushed a parked motorcycle (MH-31/DM 1602) damaging it extensively. The owner of the bike, Tushar Madanrao Nagrikar (27), resident of Swavalambi Nagar, had a lucky escape as he was standing away from his bike when the truck crushed the bike.
Based on Nagrikar’s complaint, Hingna Police Constable Vinod Deshmukh booked the unidentified driver of the container truck under Sections 279, 337, 338, 304(A) of the IPC read with Sub-sections 184, 134 of Motor Vehicles Act and launched a hunt to nab him.
