Nagpur: Life of a young woman was snuffed out as the moped she was riding was hit by a speeding Mahindra Scorpio car in Yashodhara Nagar area here on Wednesday afternoon. The driver along with killer vehicle fled the spot after the mishap and is being searched.
A resident of Indira Nagar, Pandhrabodi, Rajani Mahesh Lilhare (27) was riding Yamaha Maxi moped (MH-49/AR 3313) and was going from Ittabhatti Square to Kanji House Square around 1 pm on Wednesday. As she reached near Bora Compund midway, a Scorpio car (MH-30/AL 7167), being driven recklessly, dashed against Rajani’s moped. She received serious head injuries as she was not wearing helmet and died on the spot. The unidentified driver along with his Scorpio fled the spot after the mishap fearing public wrath.
Yashodhara Nagar police constable Gajanan, based on a complaint lodged by Mahesh Lilhare (33), booked the unidentified driver under Sections 279, 304(A) of the IPC read with Sections 134, 177 of Motor Vehicles Act and searching for him.
