Speeding heavy vehicle kills unidentified pedestrian in Pardi
Nagpur: A 40-year-old unidentified man was killed on the spot after an unknown heavy vehicle ran over him following a hit-and-run accident on the Nagpur-Bhandara Road near Suruchi Company.

According to police reports, on October 23, 2026, at around 1:00 am, beat marshals attached to the Pardi Police Station received a wireless alert from the control room regarding a man lying injured on the roadway. Upon rushing to the scene, officers found the victim dead, having sustained fatal head injuries caused by a vehicle wheel running over him.

The deceased was wearing a grey half T-shirt with the word “Fevicol” printed on the back, black full pants, and black rainy slippers. Initial inquiries and circumstantial evidence indicated that an unidentified vehicle driver operated in a rash, negligent, and high-speed manner, striking the pedestrian and causing his instantaneous death.

The body was subsequently shifted to Mayo Hospital for completion of medico-legal formalities and post-mortem examination.

Based on a complaint lodged by Police Constable Ganesh Shrirame, Sub-Inspector Nikhil Bharate of the Pardi Police Station registered an FIR against the absconding driver under Sections 281 and 106(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with relevant provisions of Sections 134, 177, and 184 of the Motor Vehicles Act. Police have launched a manhunt to trace the vehicle and accused driver as further investigations continue.
