Solar Defence to Invest ₹12,780 Cr in MIHAN; CM Fadnavis Hands Over 223-Acre Land Allotment

Nagpur: In a major boost to Maharashtra’s defence and aerospace sector, the Maharashtra Airport Development Company Ltd (MADC) has provisionally allotted 223 acres of land in the MIHAN Special Economic Zone (SEZ) to Solar Defence and Aerospace Ltd (SDAL). The Provisional Letter of Allotment was officially handed over by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to company chairman Satyanarayan Nuwal. Under this project, the company will invest ₹12,780 crore — the largest single investment ever in MIHAN.

The formal handover of the allotment letter marks a milestone for the state’s industrial and defence expansion. SDAL’s upcoming project aims to establish a world-class defence and aerospace manufacturing facility in Nagpur’s MIHAN SEZ.

Massive Investment and Job Creation

The company plans to invest around ₹12,780 crore to develop the facility, expected to generate approximately 6,800 direct employment opportunities. Additionally, SDAL will set up a transport aircraft and defence equipment manufacturing unit in the SEZ with an additional ₹660 crore investment, creating around 875 direct and indirect jobs.

CM Fadnavis Highlights Strategic Significance

Speaking at the event, Chief Minister Fadnavis emphasized the project’s role in transforming Nagpur and Vidarbha into a leading defence and aerospace manufacturing hub. He said the initiative reinforces Maharashtra’s commitment to “Make in India,” “Atmanirbhar Bharat,” and overall industrial advancement. The development, he added, will position Nagpur prominently on the global map in ammunition and defence production, marking a significant leap in the region’s industrial and strategic importance.
