The Government had come to know about the reality that thousands of employees had grabbed the Government jobs on the basis of fake caste certificates. Accordingly, a Government Resolution was issued on May 18, 2013 directing the employees to submit their valid caste certificates afresh before July 31. Even the employees, who retired from the State Government service after 1995, were directed to submit their valid caste certificates before July 31. The defaulters are likely to be dismissed from the service and the pensions would be stopped if such employees fail to submit the valid caste certificates.

Nagpur News:

The skeletons of bogus caste certificates have started to peep out from the cupboards of Government employees. Over 200 employees have confessed of “robbing” the Government service on the basis of fake Scheduled Tribe (ST) certificate to get jobs from ST quota. The employees have also confessed on an affidavit stating the cheating by them by submitting bogus caste certificates. This figure stands in the Nagpur Division only. The figure will cross to over and above 1000 in the entire State.

Now, the point of focus would be on the State Government’s course of action.

However, massive protests were launched by the various unions of State Government employees against the GR of May 18. The unions charged that the GR would destroy the lives of hundreds of backward class employees. Dozens of agitations, rallies and protest meetings were organized to pressure the State Government to withdraw the GR.

Meanwhile, The Maharashtra Government has extended the date for submission of valid caste certificates by two more months and the pensioners have been dropped from the GR. However, the other “guilty” employees, on whose heads the sword of sacking is hanging, have been rushing to the office of the Caste Inspection Committee for verifying their caste certificates. The office of the Committee has been mobbed by such employees with a worry writ large on their faces.

The Government Resolution (GR) on May 18, 2013, has forced the “bogus” skeletons to come out from the cupboards of the State Government employees. In the Nagpur Division, the Adivasi Development Board office inspects or examines the caste certificates of Adivasi employees in Nagpur, Wardha, Bhandara and Gondia District which come under the Nagpur Division. Till now, 2100 employees have submitted their valid caste certificates to the office of the Adivasi Development Board. However, more than 200 employees have confessed on affidavits of usurping State Government jobs on the basis of bogus caste certificates.

Similarly, thousands of cases of bogus caste certificates in the Scheduled Caste and Other Backward Class are likely to raise their ugly heads. The only relief for the “bogus” Scheduled Tribe employees is the statement of Guardian Minister Shivajirao Moghe. Moghe had announced that no employee would be sacked but will not get benefits like promotions, and other benefits the genuine ST employees receive in their State Government service.
