Shopkeeper victim of forgery worth Rs. 4 lakh

Nagpur News: Anant Purushottam Nanjewar (35), owner of an optical store on Temple Bazar Road, was duped of Rs. 4 lakhs after a business associate took goods worth the said amount from him in order to sell them, but didn’t hand in the money.

Accused Rahul Ashok Modiyani (25) had taken spectacles and other goods from Nanjewar in August, and showed him forged sales slips totalling to an amount f Rs. 4 lakhs as proof of his having sold those goods. Modiyani, however, had been avoiding Nanjewar’s requests and demands that he hand over the money made from sales.

After a recent altercation in which Modiyani flatly refused to hand over the money, Nanjewar filed a complaint with Sitabuldi poice, and a case has been filed under Section 16 (3) of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC). Police Sub- Inspector Bhoyar has also filed a case against sections 294, 418,420 468, 471 and 506 of the IPC.
