Nagpur News: The Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan has decided in a meeting of MLAs on Thursday to erect a huge memorial dedicated to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in the Arabian Sea.

The Speaker at the Upper House Shivajirao Deshmukh informed in this regard to the House members.

Deshmukh said that the memorial would not be established elsewhere but at Arabian sea.

Some enviromental hurdles and SEZ related issues were said to be coming in the way of construction of memorial. A committee under the leadership of rural development minister Jayant Patil has been formed to look into the issues and submit the concerned report in two months.

He also pulled up those who have adopted callous attitude towards the project.

It may be mentioned here that in 2009, the Congress and NCP have jointly announced to construct the Shivaji Memorial at Arabian Sea. The delay in implementation was causing anguish among the opposition members.

Now the responsibility to execute the plan has been entrusted upon rural development minister Jayant Patil
