Nagpur: Political tensions flared in Nagpur after workers of the Shiv Sena Shinde faction staged a strong protest against Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Raut over his alleged remarks targeting the youth.
The agitation was carried out in the Vaishali Nagar area under the leadership of Yuva Sena City President Sharad Sarode, where Shiv Sainiks raised slogans against Raut and condemned his reported statement allegedly referring to youngsters as “brainless.”
Protesters claimed that the remark had hurt the sentiments of the youth and triggered widespread anger among party workers. Demonstrators accused Raut of insulting young people and demanded that he issue a public apology.
During the protest, Shiv Sena workers also burnt an effigy symbolically representing Sanjay Raut while shouting slogans against him. The area echoed with political chants as a large number of party activists gathered to register their opposition.
Speaking during the agitation, the protesters warned that if similar statements against the youth were made in the future, the protests would be intensified further.
The demonstration briefly heated up the political atmosphere in the Vaishali Nagar locality, drawing attention from residents and passersby.
