Seven arrested in Crime branch raid at bookies’ den; cash and valuables worth Rs 6.30 lakh seized

Nagpur News: City crime branch officials conducted a surprise raid at a betting den carried at an independent house at Kalamphool Square on early Sunday morning around 5 am.

Police have seized Rs 2 lakh cash, a car, cell phones and other things collectively worth Rs 6.30 lakh. Cops have arrested the house owner Raju Ahuja, who was caught betting with other accused Suresh Dharamdas Premani, Purushottam Batra, Rajesh Kewalramani, Ashok Gaikwad, Suresh Dhanraj and Hrudayraj Joseph.

The raid was conducted ahead of India vs Australia ODI to be held on October 30 at Jamtha stadium.

The raid was conducted by PI Madhav Giri, PSI Vinod Chowdhary, Head constable Laxman Shende, Afsar Khan, Pramod Dhote and Dilip Jodavane, under the guidance of Commissioner of Police K K Pathak, and Sanjay Saxena.
