SBI staffer booked for duping man of over Rs 5 lakh

Nagpur: Bajaj Nagar Police on Thursday booked one Vivek Vasantrao Bankar, an employee of SBI, for allegedly defrauding a 46-year-old man of over Rs 5.06 lakh by issuing fake fixed deposit receipts (FDRs) of State Bank of India.

The victim, Vikas Vijay Vaidya, a resident of Plot No 16, Savitri Vihar, Somalwada, lodged a complaint that Bankar (56) took Rs nine lakh between May 15, 2014 to January 7, 2019 from him to invest the amount as fixed deposit in SBI. A resident of Plot No 45, Nehru Nagar (near Deo Nagar), Bankar issued fake FDRs to him. After three years, he returned him Rs 3,93,200 as interest.

However, he did not return the remaining amount of Rs 5,06, 800 to him. On the basis of Vaidya’s complaint, police registered an offence under Sections 420, 406, 465, 468 and 471 of the Indian Penal Code against Bankar
