Saurabh tops Vid in JEE-Advanced, 126 candidates clear exam from city

Nagpur: The results of the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced 2016 for admissions in the IITs, IIITs and other premier engineering institutes were announced on Sunday.

According to reports available Saurabh Tote of Dr Ambedkar College, Nagpur has secured All India Rank (AIR) of 183. The JEE-Advanced was held on May 22 countrywide. However, around 1.98 lakh candidates had cleared the JEE-Main, but as per the rules, around 1,55,948 candidates were allowed to give the JEE-Advanced.

According to information, total 36,665 candidates have successfully passed the examination. Meanwhile, 800 candidates had appeared from Nagpur and 126 candidates cleared the examination from city.

According to reports, Saurabh Tote has secured the first place in Vidarbha with AIR of 183, followed by Piyush Rathi at the second spot with AIR 216. Saurabh Ray has bagged the third spot with AIR 251.

Sources informed 4 students from Nagpur have secured spots in the top 500 students in the country, while 35 students from city have made it to the top 5,000.
