Nagpur: A 38-year-old labourer died under suspicious circumstances while reportedly sleeping inside his hut in Wadar Mohalla, Saoner, on Wednesday. The incident came to light at around 4:30 pm on September 30, 2026.
The deceased has been identified as Umesh Dhanuji Mohabe, a resident of Wadar Mohalla in Saoner. He worked as a labourer to support his family.
According to preliminary information, Umesh was sleeping inside his hut on Wednesday. When there was no movement for a considerable period, local residents reportedly tried to wake him but received no response.
The residents subsequently informed social worker Hitesh Bansod, following which Umesh was immediately taken to the Saoner Government Hospital. Doctors examined him and declared him dead.
After being informed about the incident, Saoner Police reached the spot, including ASI Rajesh Paunikar, the duty officer. Police recorded the incident and sent the body for postmortem examination.
The exact cause of death will be established after the postmortem report is received. Police are conducting further investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death.
The incident has left residents of Wadar Mohalla in mourning.
