HARPREET Saluja defeated Chaitanya Dixit 4-2 to win the Master of the Month ( January) 6Red Championship held at Shabbi’s Cue Sports Sadar recently. Saluja knocked the first red alongside blue to take some lead but Dixit countered that fast with a blue and some good safety shots.
In the end of first frame, Dixit potted the last red with green followed with a clearance from yellow to pink ball with a break of 24 points to win the first frame.
In the second frame, Saluja knocked the first red with blue and two more reds with black and yellow leading 17 points break in start but Dixit countered that with some good snooker and potting but Saluja overcame that with 12 points break and potting the last brown blue pink to steal the second frame. Third frame was little tragic as Dixit fluked on the last red followed with blue and a clearance from yellow to black to win the third frame.
In the fourth frame, Saluja focused seriously to take a good start with 16 points break and ended with potting last green brown blue to level the scores at 2-2. Saluja was confident in the fifth frame as he potted some good shots again.
In the end, he potted last three crucial colours to steal the frame. In the next frame, Saluja saw his chance in the end as he knocked the first red took the last pink colour with some brilliant shot and win the frame and match with a comfortable 4-2 win.
The final score line read 07- 37, 46-31, 13-30, 39-04, 30-04, 32-18. For the Master of the Month Championship ( January), Saluja won a purse of Rs 7000 while the runner-up Dixit took home Rs 4000. Semi-finalists Rohit Gandhi and Mahesh Awachat got Rs 1000 each.
