Rash driving claims vegetable vendor’s life

Nagpur: RASH driving by a motorcyclist claimed the life of a vegetable vendor in Jaripatka area on Monday night.

The biker fled the spot fearing arrest. The deceased, Dagoji Somaji Wahane (60) was a resident of Plot No. 496, Nagarjun Colony. Wahane used to run a vegetable stall at Khobragade Chowk, near DP.

After having a cup of tea, he was on his way to the stall. Suddenly, a youth riding a Hero Splendor motorcycle (MH-49/BP-3569) at a high speed hit Wahane from behind injuring him seriously.Wahane was rushed to Mayo Hospital where the doctors declared him dead.

On the basis of the statement given by Preeti Sunil Dongre (35), a resident of Lane No 5, Kasturba Nagar, Jaripatka Police registered a case of hit-n-run under Sections 279, 304(A) of the Indian Penal Code, read with Sections 134 and 177 of Motor Vehicle Act and launched a search for the biker.
