RTMNU Petitioner Alleges Pressure Over Results Scam Exposure

Nagpur: The deepening crisis surrounding the chaotic examination and result system of Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University took a disturbing turn on Friday after the petitioner who exposed the delays and alleged irregularities claimed before the Nagpur Bench of the Bombay High Court that he was being subjected to pressure tactics for speaking out against the university’s mismanagement.

The revelation has intensified concerns over the deteriorating functioning of the university administration, where thousands of students have already suffered due to delayed results, confusion in examinations and alleged administrative incompetence.

The matter came up for hearing before the division bench of Justice Anil Kilor and Justice Raj Wakode. During the proceedings, Advocate Bhushan Mohata, appearing for petitioner Neeraj Dharashivkar, informed the court that his client was facing pressure after raising serious concerns regarding irregularities in RTMNU’s examination mechanism and filing a public interest litigation over the issue.

The submission painted a grim picture of a system where instead of fixing failures affecting students’ futures, those exposing the lapses allegedly find themselves under pressure.

Counsel representing RTMNU, Advocate Nahush Khubalkar, however, claimed he had no knowledge of any such pressure being exerted on the petitioner.

Taking serious note of the allegations, the High Court observed that intimidating or pressuring individuals raising public issues would serve no purpose in reforming the broken system. The bench further made strong remarks stating that even if the petitioner decided to withdraw the PIL out of fear or pressure, the court could still continue monitoring the issue independently by converting it into a suo motu public interest litigation.

The observations are being viewed as a sharp message against any attempt to silence criticism regarding the university’s functioning.

Meanwhile, RTMNU filed an affidavit claiming that results of 1,248 out of 1,261 examinations had already been declared and assured the court that the remaining 13 results would also be announced soon. However, the petitioner sought time to verify the figures submitted by the university, indicating continued distrust over the institution’s claims and transparency.

The prolonged delay in declaration of results has already triggered frustration among thousands of students whose admissions, placements and academic futures remain stuck in uncertainty due to repeated administrative lapses.

The High Court has now posted the matter for further hearing on May 12 to review the progress and status of the pending results issue.
