Nagpur: The revaluation facility may be burdensome for Rashtrasant Tukdoji Maharaj University (RTMNU) but it is yet another big source of moolah for establishment. In a single examination session the total fees collected through revaluation channel nets upto Rs 50 Lakhs. The collection from winter and summer examination combine crossed well above 1 crore.

Call it trust deficit on the valuation system or anything, but the number of students going for revaluation is on the upward mode. The situation is quite alarming and poses serious question on the veracity of evaluation system. The available data shows that in the year 2011, 27605 had applied for revaluation and in 2012 it crossed to 35,000. The applicants mostly included engineering students.

The fee for challenging evaluation is Rs 450 per subject, application fees excluded. Initially the students apply for copy of the marksheet and if he feels that there is possibility of gaining some more marks and he/she has to apply for challenge to evaluation. The evaluation committee then goes through the marksheet to see if the marks could be increased. According to university rules not more than 2 subjects can be applied for revaluation.

According to information till the end of with winter examination 2014, about 11000 students have applied for revaluation. It means if in 2014-15 same number of students apply for revaluation, then the earnings from it will cross 1 crore.
